A violent night unfolded in Greenville on Tuesday, as two separate shooting incidents within hours of each other left one person dead, another critically injured, and a community on edge.
Sonic Drive-In Shooting Leaves One Dead, One Critically Injured
Just after 8:00 p.m., officers with the Greenville Police Department and deputies from the Washington County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of gunfire in the parking lot of the Sonic Drive-In on Highway 82.
Witnesses at the scene told authorities that two individuals had been shot moments before first responders arrived. Emergency crews quickly transported both victims—a male and a female—to a nearby hospital.
By 9:00 p.m., officials confirmed that the male victim had succumbed to his injuries. The female victim remains in critical condition.
Law enforcement is urging anyone who may have seen or heard anything related to the incident to come forward. Investigators are actively reviewing witness accounts and any available surveillance footage from the area.
At approximately 10:19 p.m., reports of heavy gunfire erupted near T.L. Weston Middle School, prompting urgent warnings for residents to shelter indoors and remain alert.
Shortly afterward, additional reports indicated a second shooting incident—this time at Delta Health Hospital. Multiple shots were reportedly fired, causing structural damage to parts of the facility. At this time, no injuries have been confirmed in connection to the hospital shooting.
Authorities have not stated whether the two incidents are connected, but both remain under active investigation.
