Springfield police are investigating the city’s tenth homicide of 2025 after a man was found fatally shot outside an apartment building early Tuesday morning.

Officers responded to the 324 E. Montclair apartment complex at approximately 7:10 a.m. on Nov. 18, 2025, following a report of a shooting. When they arrived, officers discovered Delquan Scott, 21, of Springfield, deceased outside the building. His family has been notified.
Police identified Deandre Jonas, 23, also of Springfield, as the suspect. Jonas was arrested at the scene and later booked into the Greene County Jail. According to investigators, Scott and Jonas were known to each other. Police have not yet released details surrounding the events that led to the shooting.

The Springfield Police Department says the case will be forwarded to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office for formal charges.
