Suspect arrested for murder after woman found shot dead in car in south Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A suspect has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found shot dead inside a car in south Las Vegas on Sunday.

Detectives identified Andrew Garza, 40, as a suspect in the fatal shooting, Las Vegas Metropolitan Police announced Tuesday. He was already in Clark County Detention Center for an unrelated drug charge and was re-booked for the murder charge.

No further details on the investigation were disclosed.

LVMPD first said they got a report of a single-vehicle crash in the 7500 block of Dean Martin Drive, near Warm Springs Road, just after 5:20 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 16.

Officers found the car hit a street sign and medical personnel were responding to a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office identified her as 25-year-old Macy Stephens and ruled that she died from a gunshot wound to the torso area.
