A homicide suspect is dead after pointing a gun at Sequatchie County deputies on Monday, says the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).
Sequatchie County deputies were investigating a homicide off Dandy Road on Signal Mountain at around 8:45pm Monday.
The sheriff’s office determined Johnny Michael Queen was a suspect in the homicide. They contacted him by phone but he refused to surrender.
Deputies then joined the Tennessee Highway Patrol and 12th Judicial Drug Task Force investigators in a search for Queen.
The TBI says they then found Queen off Big Fork Road on Signal Mountain. At that time, the TBI says Queen pointed a gun at officers, who then shot the suspect.
Authorities pronounced Queen dead at the scene. No officers were injured.
The TBI is investigating to determine what exactly led to the shooting.
