A crash involving a school bus and a pickup truck shut down a section of Alabama Highway 202 on Monday afternoon, prompting a major response from emergency crews and multiple safety measures for students and families.
The Oxford Police Department said officers were called to the intersection of AL Hwy 202 and Taylors Chapel Road, where the roadway remained blocked for several hours as first responders worked the scene. Authorities urged drivers to avoid the area.
Injuries Reported
According to updates from OXPD, one student on the bus was transported to Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. The driver of the pickup truck suffered more serious injuries and was airlifted to a hospital in Birmingham for advanced medical treatment.
No other student injuries were reported.
Students Relocated for Pickup
At approximately 4:16 p.m., officials announced that all remaining students from the bus had been transported to C.E. Hanna for parents and guardians to pick them up. School and law enforcement personnel were on site to assist families and ensure an orderly reunification process.

Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash. As of the latest update, the road remained blocked, and authorities reiterated their request for the public to avoid the area until further notice.
