Scott Roberts, 46, was discovered deceased inside an apartment in Corinth early in the morning, marking the tragic conclusion of a violent incident that also left Michael McGregor, 32, critically injured outside the building. Authorities were alerted after multiple 911 calls reported gunfire at 272 Main Street, prompting a rapid response from Maine State Police and local officers who found chaos at the scene.
According to reports from the Maine State Police, responders arrived to discover Roberts inside the apartment, suffering from a gunshot wound. Roberts was pronounced deceased by responding medical personnel, and the state medical examiner later ruled his death a homicide. Outside the building, officers found McGregor bleeding heavily and barely conscious from apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency medical crews transported him to a nearby hospital, where he received immediate treatment for life-threatening injuries.
Investigators quickly began piecing together the timeline and circumstances of the attack. Initial evidence suggested the involvement of a suspect who had been actively evading authorities since September 21. Maine State Police coordinated with agencies across state lines, ultimately identifying 27-year-old Jawon Owens in Connecticut as a primary suspect in the shootings. Investigators determined that Owens had been armed during the incident, with a loaded handgun recovered when Hartford officers apprehended him on November 13.
Owens did not resist arrest, but the weapon recovered confirmed he had been carrying a firearm while evading law enforcement for nearly two months. Law enforcement officials in Maine are coordinating with Hartford authorities to complete the extradition process, after which Owens will face multiple charges, including murder and two counts of aggravated assault. Authorities have emphasized that the investigation remains ongoing, with detectives continuing to reconstruct the events that led to Roberts’ death and McGregor’s injuries.
Residents and neighbors in Corinth have expressed shock at the violence, describing the area as a tight-knit community unaccustomed to incidents of this magnitude. Witnesses reported hearing gunfire and seeing first responders arrive on the scene within minutes, responding to the chaos and attempting to save lives. The Maine State Police have requested that anyone with information regarding the shootings or Owens’ activities contact authorities, as investigators work to fully understand the motives and circumstances behind the attack.
