One victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two victims were taken to UT Medical Center, where one of them was later pronounced dead. The third is in critical condition, Knoxville Police said just before 7 a.m.
KPD shared that investigators preliminary findings suggest that the three victims were traveling through Knoxville and riding together with a fourth man in an SUV. The vehicle briefly pulled over onto the side of I-640, and it appears the fourth man opened fire on the victims before leaving the scene in the vehicle, Knoxville Police said.
