Police are investigating a terrifying overnight shooting in Melbourne’s north after a man armed with a machine gun sprayed two Broadmeadows homes with bullets while residents were sleeping inside.

The incidents unfolded in the early hours of the morning, when the gunman allegedly opened fire on two separate properties in the suburb. Detectives believe the same offender is responsible for both shootings.

According to police, multiple rounds were fired into each home, leaving windows shattered and walls riddled with bullet holes. Miraculously, no one inside the houses was injured.

Residents reported waking to the sound of rapid gunfire, describing the incident as “like something out of a war zone.”

A major investigation is now underway, with crime scenes established at both properties. Forensic officers spent the morning collecting evidence, including ballistic material, CCTV footage, and witness statements.
