A 33-year-old pregnant woman has died along with her unborn baby after being struck during a multi-vehicle crash in Sydney’s north-west, with police charging a teenage driver over the incident.

Emergency services were called shortly after 8 pm on Friday (14 November 2025) following reports that a pedestrian had been hit near the entrance of a car park on George Street, Hornsby.
Police allege a BMW driven by 19-year-old Aaron Papazoglu crashed into the rear of a Kia Carnival, forcing the Kia forward and into the woman as she walked with her husband and three-year-old son.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the woman — who was eight months pregnant — before she was taken to Westmead Hospital in critical condition. Despite efforts to save her, both she and her unborn child died a short time later.
The drivers of the BMW and the Kia, a 48-year-old man, were not injured. Both were taken for mandatory testing. No passengers were inside either vehicle.

Officers from Ku-Ring-Gai Police Area Command established a crime scene, and the Crash Investigation Unit conducted a full forensic examination overnight.
Around 12.45am Saturday (15 November 2025), police arrested Papazoglu at a home on Millewa Avenue in Wahroonga. He was taken to Hornsby Police Station and charged with:
Dangerous driving occasioning death – drive manner dangerous
Negligent driving occasioning death
Cause loss of foetus – death of pregnant woman
Police say the teen, who holds a provisional licence, now faces a maximum penalty of up to 10 years’ imprisonment if convicted.
Papazoglu was refused bail and is due to appear before Parramatta Local Court today.
The woman’s husband and young son, who witnessed the crash, were not physically injured but were treated at the scene for shock.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision are ongoing. Police are urging witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage from George Street around 8pm Friday to contact Crime Stoppers.
