The Hardin County community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 26-year-old Chace Soignet of Warren, a devoted U.S. Postal Service worker who tragically lost his life in a crash Tuesday afternoon.
Chace Soignet Kountze, Texas Accident
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the fatal accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 69 and State Highway 327. Investigators say Soignet was driving a U.S. Postal Service truck westbound on Highway 327 when he reportedly failed to stop at a posted stop sign, pulling into the path of a northbound Ford F-350 towing a lowboy trailer. The two vehicles collided with tremendous force, causing catastrophic damage.
Emergency responders from DPS, Hardin County EMS, and the Kountze Fire Department rushed to the scene and worked tirelessly to save Soignet’s life. He was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries. The driver of the Ford was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The news of Soignet’s passing has left friends, family, and coworkers in deep sorrow. Those who knew him describe him as a kind, hardworking, and humble young man, dedicated to his job and always willing to lend a helping hand. He was known for his friendly smile and the positive energy he brought to everyone he met along his postal route.
“Chace loved his work and cared about the people he served every day,” one coworker shared. “He wasn’t just a mail carrier — he was part of our community, and he’ll be deeply missed.”
As investigators continue to look into the circumstances surrounding the crash, the Texas Department of Public Safety is reminding drivers to remain cautious, especially at rural intersections where visibility can be limited.
