According to an affidavit by Evansville Police, officers were called to the 5500 block of Carriage Drive for a report of shots fired late Monday night. Subsequently, dispatch began to receive multiple calls of shots fired inside an apartment, and a male had been shot and was possibly dead.

Dispatch told authorities the suspect, later identified as Hogan, left in a green vehicle.

Prior to the run being called out, two EPD officers saw a green Chevrolet Equinox driving at a high rate of speed near the intersection of Green River Road and Carriage Drive. Officers claim the vehicle was driving west and disregarded a stop sign. After the vehicle allegedly made a U-turn, the vehicle was stopped and Hogan was detained.

Officers allegedly saw a black handgun with an extended magazine on the driver’s floorboard.

Detectives began to speak to witness, one of which was Hogan’s partner. The partner claimed after she got off work, she and Hogan got into an argument where Hogan allegedly pushed and yelled at her. This reportedly lead to the partner’s friend to intervene, causing a fight between her and Hogan. Hogan then allegedly shoved his partner’s child, a one-year-old, to the ground.

Officials state the partner’s friend called the victim to get the child, and while there to get the child, the partner said Hogan pull out a gun and fire multiple shots.

The partner claimed she never saw the victim become aggressive, threaten Hogan or have any weapon.

Officials say detectives later found nine shell casings inside the apartment.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he later died.

Hogan is being held in the Vanderburgh County Jail where in addition to murder, he is being charged with two counts of domestic violence and battery on a person less than 14 years old.
