The Winnebago County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who was fatally shot Tuesday night in Rockford.
According to the coroner’s office, Rockford police were called to the 3000 block of Rutger’s Place around 9:30 p.m. on Jan. 6, where they found 55-year-old Perry Brown suffering from a gunshot wound. Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police announced Wednesday that Octavius Brown-Wilkes, 28, has been arrested in connection with Brown’s death. Authorities also confirmed that another individual was wounded during the incident, though that person’s identity and condition have not been released.
The circumstances surrounding Perry Brown’s death remain under investigation by Rockford police. No additional details have been released at this time.
