Charles Wesley Chaney, age 52, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering loyalty to his family, friends, and beloved Tennessee Volunteers. Known for his vibrant spirit and deep devotion to his community, Charles was an integral part of the lives of those who knew him. His passing marks the loss of a cherished father, brother, and friend.
Charles was a passionate Tennessee Volunteers fan, a trait he wore with pride. His home was often filled with orange and white, and many who knew him fondly remember his loud cheers and infectious enthusiasm during game days. His love for the Vols was unmatched, and he made sure to share that passion with his family, especially his son, Charles Chaney, and daughter, Charity Chaney.
In addition to his love for sports, Charles was a deeply devoted father and family man. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Charlotte Chaney, who passed away earlier, and his parents, Richard Chaney and Rita Parker. His brother, Daryle Chaney, also preceded him in death, a loss that left a significant mark on Charles’s heart. He was a devoted son, brother, and father, who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones.
Charles leaves behind a family who will remember him not just for his deep love of sports, but for his kindness, humor, and unwavering support. His surviving family includes his son, Charles Chaney; daughter, Charity Chaney; brother, Joe Chaney; niece, Ashley Chaney; nephew, Richard Chaney; and several grandchildren.
