Raul Palomin Car Accident: Man Killed in Auto-Pedestrian Crash Near Weslaco Under Investigation

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that claimed the life of a man Saturday evening near Weslaco.

According to DPS, the crash occurred at approximately 6:21 p.m. Saturday on FM 1015, south of Mile 13½ North Road, north of Weslaco. A preliminary investigation determined that a gray 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a man, was traveling northbound on FM 1015 when the incident occurred.

Authorities say that for unknown reasons, a pedestrian ran toward the northbound lane of traffic and approached the Silverado. The pedestrian was struck by the vehicle’s front right-side mirror. The driver stopped immediately and attempted to render aid.

The pedestrian was identified as Raul Palomin, 48, of Edcouch. He was transported to McAllen Medical Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased due to his injuries.

The Texas Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. No additional information has been released at this time.
