Tolman High School in Pawtucket was temporarily locked down on Monday after a student reportedly made a bomb threat.
The city’s police department told 12 News they responded to the school after getting a tip from the FBI about the alleged threat around 11:30 a.m.
A 14-year-old student was taken into custody as a result, according to police. At this time, it’s unclear if she’ll face criminal charges.
Patrol officers, detectives and K-9 units swept the building before the lockdown was lifted.
The incident remains under investigation.
Kristen Setera, a spokesperson for FBI Boston, released a statement saying the agency “remains vigilant and continues to work closely with our law enforcement partners to mitigate potential threats to the public.”
“As always, we encourage the public to remain vigilant and notify law enforcement immediately if you see or hear of a threat,” the statement continued.
In addition to potential charges, the student could also face school-related consequences such as suspension or expulsion.
