SAN ANTONIO — A man has died after being shot during an altercation Saturday morning on the city’s south side, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
SAPD said officers were dispatched around 9:19 a.m. to a reported shooting-in-progress at the Sunrise Motel on the 4500 block of South Presa Street.
When officers arrived at the scene, police say they found a 39-year-old man unresponsive with apparent gunshot wounds. Authorities said the man was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
The man later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to SAPD.
Investigators said witnesses told officers the man had been involved in an altercation with an unknown suspect before the shooting. Police said it remains unclear at this time what led up to the confrontation.
No arrests have been made and the suspect has not been identified, SAPD said.
The shooting remains under investigation and police noted that details are preliminary and subject to change.
