A quiet sadness has settled over the Northmor Local School District and the surrounding community following a tragic car accident that claimed the life of a young student and left another fighting to recover. On Wednesday afternoon, January 1, 2026, a devastating crash on Morrow County Road 59 took the life of 14-year-old Bobby Singh, a freshman at Northmor High School, and seriously injured Landon Bishop, a 16-year-old junior and the driver of the vehicle.
Bobby was a bright young soul whose life was just beginning. As a freshman, he stood at the threshold of countless possibilities—friendships yet to be formed, dreams yet to be discovered, and milestones that should have been celebrated in the years ahead. His sudden passing has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of his family, friends, classmates, teachers, and all who knew him. Words fall short in capturing the depth of grief felt by a community mourning a child gone far too soon.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 2:53 p.m. in Congress Township near Morrow County Road 56. A 1999 Ford Ranger traveling eastbound left the roadway and struck a tree. Bobby, the only passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene by Morrow County EMS. Landon was transported to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital, where he continues to receive medical care. Authorities confirmed that both teenagers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
In a heartfelt message to district families, Northmor Local School District Superintendent Chad Redmon expressed the collective sorrow of the school community, offering prayers and condolences to the families and loved ones affected. He acknowledged the emotional weight of the loss and emphasized the district’s commitment to supporting students and staff through counseling services, social workers, and grief counselors as classes resume.
This tragedy has reminded the community of how fragile life can be, especially for the young. As students return to school, they do so carrying heavy hearts, united in grief but also in compassion and care for one another.
Bobby Singh will be remembered not only for his youthful smile and presence in the halls of Northmor High School, but for the love he gave and the lives he touched in his 14 short years. May his memory live on as a source of light, reminding us to hold our loved ones close, to be kind, and to cherish every moment.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with Bobby’s family, with Landon and his loved ones, and with the entire Northmor community during this incredibly difficult time.
