PARKLAND, FL — Joshua Leigh Metayer, a survivor of the 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting in Parkland, Florida, has died by suicide at the age of 26, his family confirmed.
Metayer was among those who survived one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history, which claimed the lives of 17 students and staff members. In the years following the tragedy, he struggled with the lasting emotional and psychological effects of the event.
