The sheriff’s office said in the release that the deputy “discharged his service weapon, striking the subject.”
According to the release, the deputy wasn’t injured during the incident.
The sheriff’s office said that deputies on the scene rendered medical aid to the suspect until Haywood County Emergency Medical Services arrived. The suspect was then transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
