The Columbus County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide reported Sunday afternoon in the Williamson Crossroads community, authorities confirmed.
According to Sheriff Bill Rogers, deputies were dispatched at approximately 2:35 p.m. to a residence on Dudney Lane, just off Princess Ann Road, after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered an individual who had sustained fatal gunshot injuries. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators secured the area as detectives began processing the scene and interviewing potential witnesses. At this time, officials have not released the identity of the victim, nor have they confirmed whether any suspects are in custody.
