“Tragically, the male victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene,” LASD said in a media release.

Investigators said the 19-year-old and two juveniles were walking northbound on Mills Avenue when someone inside a passing vehicle opened fire. The suspects then fled the area in their vehicle, heading southbound on Mills Avenue.

The victim was only identified as a 19-year-old man. Two other individuals — both unidentified juveniles — were not injured.

Sheriff’s homicide investigators said the shooting is being investigated as a possible gang-related incident. No suspect information has been released, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
