It is with deep sorrow that family, friends, and the Boca Raton community mourn the passing of Anthony Ungerman, who died on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at the age of 60.
Born in Dallas, Texas, to Nancy and Jay Ungerman, Anthony grew up in a warm and loving household surrounded by his two older sisters, Carrie and Leslie, a younger brother, Garin, and an extended network of aunts, uncles, and cousins who were like siblings to him.
From his earliest days, Anthony’s life was defined by a love of family, laughter, and connection, and he carried these values with him throughout his life. Anthony’s journey led him to Miami, Florida, in his mid-20s, where he met Marisa, his neighbor and soulmate.
Their partnership blossomed into a 35-year journey of love, friendship, and shared purpose. Together, they raised three daughters—Katya, Bianca, and Sabrina—and welcomed grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy.
Anthony often spoke of his family as his greatest accomplishment, celebrating their successes and cherishing everyday moments, from shared meals to playful interactions with the family cats.
From a young age, Anthony was fascinated by technology. Receiving his first computer for his Bar Mitzvah in 1978 sparked a lifelong passion that led to a distinguished career in software engineering, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.
His work earned him numerous patents and widespread respect, but Anthony’s true legacy was in his mentorship and advocacy. He championed underrepresented voices in technology, including women in computer science and the LGBTQ+ community, particularly supporting trans rights.
Colleagues remember him as brilliant yet humble, generous with his time, and always eager to help others succeed. Outside of his professional life, Anthony was known for his humor, intelligence, and wide-ranging interests.
He loved Billy Joel, chess, poker, reading, video games, and, of course, the Dallas Cowboys. Friends and family recall his infectious laughter, his thoughtful advice, and his ability to make even ordinary moments memorable.
Anthony’s life was one of love, purpose, and generosity. He is survived by his devoted wife, Marisa; daughters Katya (and husband), Bianca (and Conor), and Sabrina; grandchildren; parents Nancy and Jay; and siblings Carrie, Leslie, and Garin. His family, friends, colleagues, and community will carry forward his legacy of kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support.
