Former WBRC reporter Christina Chambers was one of two people found dead in a Hoover home Tuesday morning, WBRC 6 News has confirmed.
Chambers joined WBRC in 2015 and quickly became a key part of the station’s sports coverage. She was a familiar face on Sideline every Friday night and frequently helped anchor coverage of the Mercedes Marathon, even running the race herself. After leaving her full-time role in July 2021, she continued freelancing for WBRC during the 2025 football season.
Known for her quick wit, warmth, and love for high school sports and the UAB Blazers, Chambers was beloved by coworkers and the community alike.
Before joining WBRC, Chambers worked as a sports reporter and anchor at WAKA in Montgomery, Alabama. She began her broadcast career at WLTZ NBC38 in Columbus, Georgia, before joining Comcast Sports Southeast in Atlanta, where she covered Auburn University athletics and served as a sideline reporter for Friday night high school football games. In 2014, she also freelanced as a sideline reporter and halftime host for Raycom Media during the Super 7 high school football playoffs and high school basketball finals.
A native of Cullman, Alabama, Chambers was a four-year Division I-A scholarship athlete at UAB in cross country and track and earned a B.A. in journalism. She was also a devoted mother to a 3-year-old son.
