The Grand Island community is mourning the tragic and sudden loss of Juan Gomez Jr., 18, who was fatally shot on Sunday, December 14, 2025, in Leesburg Florida.
According to the Leesburg Police Department, patrol officers responded at approximately 12:56 p.m. on December 14 to Berry Park, located at 2121 Johns Avenue, after receiving a report of a possible shooting victim inside a vehicle. Upon arrival, officers located Gomez inside the vehicle suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
Leesburg Fire-Rescue and emergency medical personnel responded to the scene, but despite life-saving efforts, Juan Gomez Jr. was pronounced deceased at Berry Park.
Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators were called to the scene and are actively processing evidence and following up on multiple leads. Authorities have not released information regarding a suspect or motive, and no arrests have been announced. Police stated that the investigation remains ongoing and that updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
