Tinker Air Force Base issued a heightened security alert Monday afternoon, placing all outbound lanes under “stop, check, and pass” procedures until further notice. Base officials announced the change shortly before 4 p.m., noting that an update will be released once normal gate operations resume.
The temporary measure requires every departing vehicle to undergo additional security checks, prompting longer wait times at installation exits.
Base leadership also confirmed that the increased security posture caused significant delays for Youth Programs (YP) transportation serving children at Soldier Creek Elementary and Parkview Elementary. Families were notified directly through YP communication channels.
“Due to the ‘stop, check, and pass’ procedures at the gates, the YP vehicles are running late picking up youth from school,” the message said. “YP management has been in touch with both schools to let them know and to ensure youth are kept safe until we can arrive.”
At approximately 4:36 p.m., officials provided an update stating that Soldier Creek and Parkview vans had cleared the base and were en route to the schools.
No additional details have been released regarding the cause of the enhanced screening process. Base officials emphasized that further information will be shared when outbound lanes return to normal operations.
The situation remains active.
