SAN ANGELO, TX — Heartbreak now rests heavy over West Texas after authorities confirmed the identity of the woman killed in a devastating wrong-way collision on U.S. 87 Wednesday night. The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the victim as 51-year-old Aleasa Ogle of Eden, whose life was tragically cut short in a crash that also left another driver seriously injured.
The fatal collision occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m. on December 10, about 7.5 miles southeast of San Angelo. According to DPS, Aleasa was driving her 2022 Nissan Rogue eastbound when a GMC Canyon pickup, driven by 26-year-old Angelica Diaz of San Angelo, approached her vehicle head-on while traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes.
The impact was catastrophic. Despite immediate emergency response, Aleasa Ogle was pronounced deceased at the scene by Judge Thomas Daniels. Diaz sustained incapacitating injuries and was airlifted to Shannon Medical Center for urgent treatment. DPS noted that both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, and weather and road conditions were clear and dry.
The collision was investigated by Trooper Solis of the Texas Highway Patrol, with assistance from the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office and the Wall Volunteer Fire Department. Preliminary findings indicate that Diaz was traveling the wrong direction when the crash occurred — a detail that deepens the grief surrounding an already devastating loss.
But beyond the tragic circumstances, the community now pauses to honor the life of Aleasa Ogle — a woman whose presence, kindness, and spirit are remembered by those who knew and loved her. At 51, Aleasa had a life full of stories, connections, and purpose. Her sudden passing leaves a void felt deeply in Eden, San Angelo, and throughout the extended community of family and friends who treasured her.
As investigators continue to piece together the events leading to the collision, loved ones are left holding onto memories of Aleasa — her warmth, her strength, her laughter, and the countless ways she touched lives. The impact of her absence stretches far beyond the scene of the crash; it reaches into the hearts of all who were blessed to share even a small part of her journey.
In moments like this, communities gather not just in sorrow, but in remembrance. They find comfort in honoring who Aleasa was and the legacy she leaves behind. Though her life was ended suddenly and far too soon, her memory remains — a reminder of the fragility of life, the importance of connection, and the enduring love that transcends even the deepest tragedy.
May Aleasa Ogle rest in eternal peace.
May her family, friends, and community find healing, strength, and comfort in the days ahead.
