A tragic incident unfolded Tuesday morning at North Forsyth High School, where two students were stabbed, leaving one dead and another critically injured, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement and EMS responded to the school after reports of an altercation on campus. First responders quickly arrived and began providing emergency aid while deputies worked to secure the scene and ensure the safety of students and staff.
Officials confirmed that one student died from their injuries. The second student was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Their name and age have not yet been released.
The campus was temporarily placed on lockdown as deputies conducted a sweep of the school. Authorities said the situation is now contained and there is no ongoing threat to the community.
“We are deeply saddened by this act of violence that occurred today,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a brief statement. “Our thoughts are with the families, students, and staff who have been affected.”
EMS confirmed that multiple units were dispatched to the high school, and the investigation is ongoing.
School officials said counselors will be made available to students and staff as the community processes the tragedy.
