Multiple emergency agencies responded to a reported shooting at Cross Creek Mall on Saturday evening, prompting a large police and first-responder presence around one of the city’s busiest shopping areas.
Just after the call came in, police units, fire crews, and at least one ambulance were seen racing toward the mall complex near U.S. Bypass 401, close to the intersection of Morganton Road and N. Skibo Road.
Authorities have not yet released details on what led to the shooting, and the number of people injured remains unknown as of the time of this report. Officers were seen securing areas around the mall while emergency medical personnel staged nearby.
Shoppers described a heavy and fast-moving response as sirens filled the area and law enforcement worked to manage the scene.
