The Hinesville Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place on Wednesday on Memorial Drive near the traffic circle, an incident that left one person with life-threatening injuries.
According to HPD Chief Tracey Howard, the injured individual was a passenger in a white sedan that crashed at the traffic circle at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Main Street. The victim was transported to Liberty Regional Medical Center, where they remain in critical condition.
Police are interviewing the driver of the vehicle and have detained three people of interest as part of the ongoing investigation. Authorities have not released further details on possible suspects or what may have led to the shooting.
Chief Howard noted that the incident does not appear to be a random act of violence, and investigators believe there is no active threat to the public.
In a statement, the Hinesville Police Department said:
“The Hinesville Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that occurred on Memorial Drive near the traffic circle. At this stage of the investigation, preliminary information indicates that this appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no direct threat to the general public. The investigation remains ongoing.
