A tragic shooting at Tempe Marketplace on Monday morning has left one person dead, prompting an active police investigation and a search for the suspect.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire near McClintock Drive and Rio Salado Parkway around 11 a.m. When they arrived, they located a victim suffering from life-threatening injuries.
According to police officials, the victim was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition but later passed away despite emergency medical efforts.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect remains at large, and no arrest has been made at this time. Police have not yet released information about the victim’s identity or any potential motive behind the shooting.
The area surrounding the marketplace was briefly secured as officers searched for evidence and interviewed witnesses. Shoppers and employees in the vicinity described a chaotic scene as people attempted to take cover when the gunfire erupted.
