A tragic boating accident near the Cape Coral Yacht Club has left two people dead and three others rescued, according to the Cape Coral Fire Department. Emergency crews from Cape Coral Fire and Iona-McGregor Fire District responded to the scene Saturday after receiving reports of individuals in the water.

Officials confirmed that three people were successfully rescued, while two others were pulled from the water unresponsive. Despite immediate CPR and extensive life-saving measures administered aboard two rescue boats, both individuals were pronounced dead.

Witnesses at the scene reported a heavy emergency response as fire crews, marine units, and rescue personnel worked urgently to reach the victims. First responders could be seen performing CPR on the two critically injured people as boats transported them toward waiting medical teams. Tragically, efforts to revive them were unsuccessful.

Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims or further details about how the accident occurred. Marine patrol units and investigators remained in the area through the afternoon, and officials say more information will be released as the investigation continues.
The Cape Coral community is urged to avoid the area as crews work to piece together the events leading up to the accident.
This is a developing story and will be updated as additional details become available.
