New developments have emerged regarding the shooting that left two National Guard members injured near the White House. According to early law-enforcement briefings reported by some outlets, the suspect has been identified as 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal.
Authorities say that during the confrontation, one unarmed National Guardsman reportedly used a pocketknife to intervene and restrain the suspect. Another Guardsman responded to the gunfire and shot the suspect multiple times, stopping the threat. The suspect survived and remains in custody.
