Norfolk, Va. — A man is in serious condition after an early-morning shooting in a Norfolk neighborhood on Thursday, prompting a large police response and an active investigation.
According to Norfolk Police, the incident occurred around 6:40 a.m. in the 7200 block of Marcy Street, a typically quiet residential area near the city’s northern corridor. Officers were dispatched after receiving reports of gunfire in the area.

When first responders arrived, they discovered an adult male inside the home suffering from multiple serious injuries consistent with gunshot wounds. Medics provided immediate on-scene care before transporting him to a nearby hospital. He remains hospitalized, and no update on his condition has been released.
Detectives worked through the morning, canvassing the neighborhood, checking for surveillance footage, and interviewing residents who reported hearing loud bangs shortly after sunrise. Forensic teams were seen marking evidence near the front of the property as investigators attempted to piece together what led to the shooting.
Police have not announced any arrests or identified any suspects, and the motive remains unclear.
