NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — A man has been charged in connection with a shooting in the parking lot of a Tinee Giant in Norfolk Tuesday evening, according to police.

It happened around 8 p.m. at the Tinee Giant parking lot, located at 123 West Ocean View Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found a 27-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Subsequently, a second man was reported to be suffering from a gunshot wound in the 1800 block of E Ocean View Avenue around 8:05 p.m. It was determined his injuries also happened during the shooting outside of the convenience store.
Both men were taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A preliminary investigation revealed the two men had been having a verbal argument in the parking lot before the shooting.
One of the victims, identified as 29-year-old Trevonte G. Dague, has been charged with attempted murder and use of a firearm.
Dugue remains hospitalized for his injuries. He will be taken to the Norfolk City Jail and held without bond.
Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney Ramin Fatehi was at the scene at West Ocean View Avenue.
“I would say, the holidays, these are times when people’s tempers get short, where trauma starts to surface,” Fatehi said. “For a lot of us, it’s happy times, but for a lot of people, it’s unhappy times, and it’s really important to keep our tempers. It’s really important not to compound people’s misery by commiting crimes around the holiday time. Just don’t do it.”
One area resident described what he heard and saw.
“I heard two gunshots,” the resident said. “That’s all I heard, though, was two gunshots, nothing major. And then a lot of police just came, just flying through here.”
Police said this is an active investigation.
