Michigan State Police Investigate Fatal I-94 Crash in Romulus
Michigan State Police are investigating a fatal traffic collision that occurred Tuesday, November 25, around 3 p.m. on eastbound I-94 near Middlebelt Road in Romulus.
According to the Detroit Regional Communication Center, a semi-truck with a box trailer was slowing down in traffic when a Chevy sedan failed to stop and rear-ended the trailer.
The driver of the Chevrolet was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities have not released the driver’s name pending notification of next of kin.
Traffic in the area was temporarily restricted while investigators examined the scene, collected evidence, and documented the crash. Michigan State Police continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the collision and are urging witnesses or anyone with information to contact the department.
Officials are reminding drivers to maintain safe following distances, especially in heavy traffic, to prevent similar tragic incidents.
