Breaking into someone’s home carries serious risks — a reality underscored by a recent incident in Baton Rouge.

Around 2 a.m. on November 24, police were called to the 9700 block of Baird Road after reports of a shooting inside an apartment. According to investigators, Lorenz Miller allegedly climbed onto a second-floor balcony and forced entry into the residence.

Once inside, Miller reportedly encountered another man who was in the bedroom with the resident. Detectives say that man opened fire, striking Miller multiple times in what appears to have been a defensive reaction during the intrusion.

Miller survived the gunshot wounds and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. After being medically cleared, he was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling.

Police noted that the investigation is still ongoing, and additional details—including whether further charges may be considered—have not yet been released.

Authorities emphasized that forced entry into an occupied home creates highly dangerous situations for everyone involved, often with potentially life-threatening consequences.
