A relative of two Alabama teens found dead after they had been missing nearly a week was fatally shot during the family’s search for the young victims.

Antonio Demetria Ausbon, the father of a young son, was killed Thursday, two days before the teens’ bodies were found, said Wilcox County Sheriff Larry Colston.

The ordeal began Monday when 17-year-old Kalisha Dunson, a Thomasville High School student, and friend Keyonate McCall, 18, were reported missing.

They were last known to be near Thomasville.

Family members of the missing teens began to search for them.

Ausbon and some other relatives about 10 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 13, went to talk to another relative about the missing juveniles, Colston said.

Those family members believed the relative may have some information on the whereabouts of Dunson and McCall, the sheriff said.

“They had an altercation, and it resulted in the death of (Ausbon) who was in the car trying to find out information about his cousin,” Colston said.

Kentrious Dre’Mon Grayson, 23, is charged with murder in Ausbon’s shooting death.

On Saturday, the teens’ bodies were found near Ralph Ervin Road in Wilcox County’s Pine Hill community. Both had been shot multiple times.

The sheriff said police recovered a stolen truck near where the two teens were found.

Courtney Anderson, 27, of Thomasville, and Edwin Shawan Hyde, 22, are charged with capital murder in the double killing.

The U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force took Hyde into custody Monday night. He is being held in the Escambia County Jail awaiting extradition to Alabama.

A motive has not been disclosed.

Colston said three murders in a week is unusual for Wilcox County.

“We had one a few months ago but before that we hadn’t had one in a 1 ½ years,” he said. “We aren’t used to this.”

Thomasville Tiger Nation posted this on Facebook after the teens’ bodies were found:
