(SPRINGFIELD, MO) — 67-year-old Robert Lewis Dear, the suspect in the Nov. 27, 2015, Planned Parenthood shooting that killed three people, died at the United States Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield, Missouri, on Saturday, Nov. 22, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons. No cause of death has been released.
According to previous coverage, two civilians and one police officer from the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) were killed, and nine people were injured when Dear opened fire at the clinic on Centennial Boulevard near West Fillmore Street.
The victims were identified as 29-year-old Ke’arre Stewart, 36-year-old Jennifer Markovsky, and 44-year-old Officer Garrett Swasey. Stewart and Markovsky were each at the clinic to support friends. Stewart tried to help others at the clinic before he was killed. Even though Officer Swasey was outside of his jurisdiction, he still responded to help save lives.

Dear was facing 179 charges, including murder, attempted murder, and assault, for the shooting at the Planned Parenthood in Colorado Springs, and was committed to hospitalization in the federal system after the courts ruled him mentally incompetent to stand trial.
