Gunfire erupted Thursday morning during a drug search warrant at an Etowah County home, injuring one law enforcement officer and the suspect.
The shooting happened shortly after 5:30 a.m. when the Joint Special Operations Group, made up of the SWAT teams from the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office and the Gadsden Police Department, carried out the raid in Gadsden.
Sheriff’s officials said when the team announced its presence at the home, deputies and officers were met with gunfire.
A JSOG member was shot in the arm, and the suspect was also shot. Both are hospitalized.
More information is expected to be released later this morning.
