MAN SHOT BY SECURITY GUARD AT ALDI STORE IN NORTH CITY ST.LOUIS
St.Louis City Police District 4 is investigating a shooting that happened inside an Aldi grocery store on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 in the 3600 block of Natural Bridge @ Grand.
Shortly after 12:30 p.m., officers received a call for a shooting at the store. Upon arriving, they located a 43-year-old man that had been shot by a security guard.
A preliminary investigation revealed the 43-year-old man, who was a known shoplifter at the store and was reportedly banned from the store prior to this incident, had entered the store and refused to leave after being asked to do so by security. During the incident, the 43-year-old man shouted threats towards a security guard and pulled at something in his waistband, indicating he was armed. The security guard, a 49-year-old man, stated that when the man raised his arm from his waistband, he fired shots at the man, striking him.
EMS responded and transported the 43-year-old man to the hospital where he was listed in critical but stable condition. Officers recovered a knife from the 43-year-old man. The security guard’s firearm was seized pending further investigation.
The investigation remains ongoing.
