32-year-old man killed in Birmingham’s 75th homicide of 2025

An investigation is underway after a deadly shooting in northern Birmingham.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Willie Rasean Raby. He was 32 and lived in Birmingham.

The shooting happened at 6:46 p.m. Wednesday in the 2300 block of 33rd Avenue North.

Raby was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:25 p.m.

Additional details have not been released.

Raby is Birmingham’s 75th homicide in the city this year.

Birmingham ended 2024 with 151 homicides, the highest number of killings in the city since 1933.

In all of Jefferson County in 2025, there have been 107 homicides including the 75 in Birmingham.
