MARC Fatal Train Accident: MARC Brunswick Line Service Suspended, Undisclosed Person Died after Being Hit in Germantown, MD

MARC Brunswick Line service was suspended Tuesday due to police activity after a person was fatally struck by a train near the Great Seneca Highway overpass, close to the Germantown MARC station.

The incident occurred along the railroad tracks just below Great Seneca Highway. Montgomery County Police and Fire & Rescue responded to the scene, where the individual was pronounced dead. Authorities say the death is being investigated as a suspected suicide.

The Maryland Transit Administration announced that the full extent of the service suspension was not immediately known. As of Tuesday afternoon, Brunswick Line trains were being held at MARC stations, and several trains had already been canceled.

CSX freight traffic in the area was also halted as police conducted their investigation on the tracks.

Commuters were advised to expect major delays and check for updated alerts throughout the day as officials worked to determine when service could safely resume.
