No arrests have been made and no description is available for the suspect at this time, according to the police statement.
The Advance/SILive.com inquired about the shooting after it was listed on Wednesday on CompStat, the NYPD’s Computerized system for tracking crimes.
Shootings at historic low
Shooting incidents and the number of people shot in the borough have decreased by about 21% so far this year, from 14 through this time period in 2024 to 11 in both categories, according to CompStat.
The 11 shooting incidents and shooting victims mark the lowest since the creation of the CompStat crime-tracking system in 1993.
New York City has also seen the fewest shooting incidents and shooting victims in recorded history over the first 10 months of the year. Low crime rates were cited as one reason NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch is expected to continue serving as police commissioner after Zohran Mamdani assumes the office of mayor in January.
