Olympus High School Lockdown: Law Enforcement Responds to Incident at Holladay, UT Campus

Law enforcement agencies responded Monday morning to a “safety concern” at Olympus High School, prompting the Granite School District to place the campus on lockdown, officials confirmed.

SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

According to the district, officers from the Unified Police Department and school resource officers were called to the school around 11 a.m. following a report of a potential threat. While investigations are ongoing, police later determined that the threat was “non-credible.”

Because of the uncertainty, school officials made the decision to evacuate students. Many were taken to the seminary building just across the street, while others were relocated to a nearby church.

Once the building was cleared, law enforcement allowed the school to be reopened. However, administrators ultimately decided to release students for the rest of the day, citing the amount of time required to safely resume normal operations.

In a message to parents, the Granite School District emphasized that safety is their top priority. Officials also reiterated that the school’s response protocols remain aligned with its established emergency plan, which calls for strict lockdown procedures whenever there is a threat inside or very close to the campus.

At this time, there are no reports of injuries, and law enforcement says there is no ongoing threat to students or staff.

Parents and community members have voiced concerns about communication during the incident. In past lockdown situations at Olympus, some say alerts were delayed or unclear. The district has encouraged students to report anything suspicious using the SafeUT app, which allows for anonymous tips.

As authorities continue to investigate what led to the lockdown, school officials say they will review security protocols and communication strategies to ensure the safety and peace of mind of the Olympus community.
