JPD: Man accused of shooting victim inside bathroom of Moxham home

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Johnstown police are providing new details about Sunday’s late-night shooting, in the Moxham section of the city, that left one person hospitalized.

Police say one man suffered a single gunshot wound to his upper arm after he was allegedly shot at, by 39-year-old Derrick Davis, while he was inside the bathroom of a home along Cypress Ave.

According to a criminal affidavit, investigators say the victim was reportedly using the bathroom when he heard a popping noise, prompting him to try and take cover inside.

Police say a total of 10 shell casings were found at the scene, corroborating the victim’s claims that he was shot at repeatedly.

Authorities say moments after the shooting, Davis allegedly left the residence, wearing a light colored trench coat.

While officers were responding to the scene, police say Davis was located along Central Ave. and was taken into custody.

Police note that he was in possession of handgun at the time of his arrest.

According to online court records, Davis is facing over a dozen charges, headlined by felony aggravated assault and discharging a firearm into an occupied structure.

Police add that the victim was hospitalized at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center for treatment of his wounds.

Johnstown police say one person is hospitalized after being shot late Sunday night in the Moxham section of the city.

Investigators say the incident occurred just before midnight, on the 200 block of Cypress Ave., and the victim was shot in the upper arm and is receiving treatment at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.

Authorities have confirmed that a suspect was taken into custody shortly after the shooting, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
