A $1 million arrest warrant has been issued for an 18-year-old Alaska man wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a teenage boy at a party last month.
Troopers say 18-year-old Darius Morgan was last seen in the Fairbanks area in late October and may now be in the Anchorage area. Authorities warn he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Following a grand jury indictment on Friday, troopers say Morgan is wanted for first- and second-degree murder in connection with the death of a 15-year-old victim. The court has issued a $1 million arrest warrant.
According to charging documents, troopers responded to multiple reports of gunfire at a residence in Fairbanks around 1:30 a.m. Oct. 25. Witnesses described the gathering as a “college party.” Several people fled the scene after shots were fired.
When troopers arrived, they found a 15-year-old boy dead outside under a deck with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Investigators recovered pistol magazines and shell casings at the scene.
Multiple witnesses told troopers they saw Morgan at the party carrying a handgun. One witness told investigators they saw him tuck a black, semi-automatic pistol into his waistband before the shooting. Others said they recognized Morgan and that he was known to carry a firearm; though they did not see him fire the weapon.
Court documents show Morgan was convicted of second-degree robbery in December 2024 and was prohibited from possessing a firearm. A warrant was initially issued for third-degree misconduct involving weapons related to that conviction.
