The Lansing community is mourning the loss of Phil Marin, a UPS driver, devoted friend, and lifelong Michigan resident, who passed away recently, leaving a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and colleagues.

Known affectionately as PJ, Phil brought joy, laughter, and a remarkable sense of connection to everyone he met. His passing has been met with profound sadness, as those who knew him remember a man whose warmth and humor touched countless lives.
Phil grew up in Saginaw, Michigan, where he attended Heritage High School before continuing his studies at Michigan State University. Throughout his life, he remained deeply connected to his roots, carrying with him the values of community, loyalty, and friendship that defined his character.
Professionally, Phil dedicated himself to his work as a UPS driver, bringing the same reliability, dedication, and friendliness to his job that he shared with everyone in his personal life.
Beyond his professional achievements, Phil was celebrated for his playful personality and infectious sense of humor. Friends remember his legendary jokes, his unique way of making everyone feel appreciated, and his ability to lift the spirits of those around him.
One friend recalled, “He had a tremendous sense of humor and would always respond with ‘that’s what I’m talking about big cat.’ He made every interaction fun, memorable, and unique. He loved life and had a way of lifting those around him.”
Phil was known for his spirited personality and playful antics, which endeared him to many. Among his friends, he was famous for wearing a “sun’s out, guns out” tank top during Cinco de Mayo shifts, a tradition that reflected his fun-loving nature.
