A homicide investigation is underway after one person died by gunfire at a convenience store in Rocky Mount.
According to the Rocky Mount Police Department, officers were called to a shooting around 11:30 p.m. Saturday on West Raleigh Boulevard.
Officers said they ended up at Mike’s Food Mart and found a person with multiple gunshot wounds at the scene.
“The victim was immediately transported to a local medical facility for emergency treatment,” officers said in a news release Sunday. “Despite medical intervention, the victim was pronounced deceased at the hospital.”
Police said the identity of the victim is being withheld.
No word yet on any arrests made in this investigation, which police said remains active. “This is an ongoing investigation, and further details will be released as they become available,” officers said.
