1 charged after shooting grandfather in Spartanburg County, deputies say

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C – The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left a man injured.

Deputies said they identified 19-year-old Tierre McDowell as the suspected shooter and discovered McDowell is the victim’s grandson. According to deputies, McDowell was charged with the following:

SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

Assault and battery, high and aggravated natured
Possession of a weapon during a violent crime
He will have a bond hearing on Sunday.


Deputies said the shooting happened on Stone Station Road on Saturday morning.

The sheriff’s office reported that during a series of search warrants, investigators recovered firearms at the residence linked to McDowell.

Deputies said McDowell has been booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center and will have a bond hearing at 11:00 a.m.
