A night of excitement at the Walcha Motorcycle Rally took a frightening turn on Friday after a vehicle left the track during the highly anticipated Demolition Derby event, crashing into a section of the crowd gathered at the Walcha Showground. What began as a festive community gathering quickly evolved into a major emergency response, prompting immediate action from on-site and regional rescue teams.

Authorities have confirmed that thirteen people have been transported to hospital, including eleven with minor injuries and two with serious but non–life-threatening injuries. NSW Ambulance reports that all individuals transported are believed to be adults. The rapid intervention of emergency personnel is being credited with preventing more severe outcomes.

The incident occurred when a competing vehicle veered off its track during the Demolition Derby, breaching a barrier and entering a spectator area. Though the exact cause of the loss of control has not yet been determined, officials have begun an investigation into the event’s safety setup and the circumstances leading to the crash. Organizers of the Walcha Motorcycle Rally are cooperating fully with authorities as inquiries continue.
